I first started looking into this idea, as a way to extend play-time. At 5 months or so, Anna was picking things up here and ignoring things in other places, our tiny apartment was a mess, etc. I felt like if she had a more centralized play area she would enjoy her toys more, and stay occupied longer. I know Montessori is a whole lifestyle in itself, and I don't want to undermine it in any way. Let's use the term "inspired" loosely! Having said that, Anna loves this play area. She spends all day ... View the Post
God Bless America
Mommy drove you home from Grandpa’s last night, and in that 2 minute drive, we had a little pep talk. I started off by explaining that Daylight Savings and the rainy weather made it much darker than normal back there. Then, I went on by saying how today, was the day after Election Day 2016. And that Donald Trump was elected President of the United States. And how although he is not known for his honesty, humility, or grace, – it was him who was going to be in charge, of running our country. – ... View the Post
Anna’s 1st Birthday Party: Cake & Dessert Table
We celebrated our baby Anna's 1st Birthday at Snyder's Farm in Somerset, NJ. After crossing fingers for 4 months, we had the most beautiful fall weather, and couldn’t ask for more! The most sunny skies and fresh crisp air. The biggest THANK YOU, to our closest friends and family for spending the day with us. We were bringing all our party decor, food, and goodies to the venue ourselves, so I needed to keep things simple. Cupcakes are always yummy and easier for sharing as well as ... View the Post
Anna’s 1st Birthday Party: “Doljabi” 돌잡이
"Doljabi” 돌잡이 is a Korean fortune-telling game, which takes place at a child’s 1st birthday celebration. Items that reflect admirable professions and good fortune are placed in front of the baby, whom is then encouraged to grab his or her favorite. Typical items are, stethoscope (doctor), gavel (lawyer), cash ($$$), string (long-life), amongst others. We went a bit non-traditional with our selection of items. (We didn’t want to stress her out, so soon. Haha.) Mommy and Grandma handmade the ... View the Post
Anna’s 1st Birthday Party: Cider & Mini-Pie Favors
It all started when I saw these mini jugs at Hobby Lobby (um, before Anna was born, I may add). My child was going to have a fall-themed party. And there were going to be Apple Cider jugs. That is all. Haha. As for the labels, I pre-affixed them when the jugs were empty, for the sake of time. A DIY mom and in-law host required a great deal of pre-planning! The night before the party, we filled them up with cold, refrigerated brew, and some of the labels did bubble up. Room temperature cider ... View the Post
I am a Mom.
After 1 year, I feel like I can confidently admit, “I am a Mom.” Sometimes hard to believe, but truth of the matter is, Yep. I am a parent. It’s been the most difficult year– ever; physically, mentally, emotionally. It’s been a test to my marriage, my family, my career– myself. But, after all is said and done, undeniably, it has been, the BEST. Anna, one day you may read this, and that is why I am hesitant to blog about my worries, fears, joys, and successes– now that God has brought you into ... View the Post
